Our main drain is backed up, dont know if its a tree root or not. water is coming up drains when i wash clothe
we had a smell under the house, the cast iron main pipe was broke and water was coming out under the house, we fixed it, now its coming up the drains in the bathtub when i washed clothes. the clean out pipe is 25 feet from where the pipe was repaired. what procedure should i do next?? we own our home but its in the city.
try running a powered snake down the drain–You can rent them–I assume you have city sewer. If not your drain field may be bad
Call a plumber….they need to run a blade through your drain pipes.
If you are on city sewer it is time to call the city out to find out what is going on. If city sewer is backing into your home this is very dangerous and somethings needs to be done now…
If you have a septic tank it sounds like your septic line is blocked somewhere. You need to call someone that does that kind of work to repair it. If it is a old septic system it maybe time to replace your septic lines.
It could very well be tree roots. I lived in an older house in the city that had almost the same problem and it was a huge tree root growing into the pipe. I didn’t quite understand how that could happen but that’s what I was told. The landlord had to have someone come fix it and it was good as new. I’m not sure exactly what they had to do so I’m sorry I can’t help there.
