You can do a number of things to unblock your bathtub or bathroom sink drain pipe. The first step is to remove the plug whether the blocked drain is in a sink or bath. Look beneath the sink, you may have to remove a nut that secures the stopper or in some cases you can just directly pull out the stopper by the u-bend. With your bath tub, you can either unscrew the plug right at the drainpipe or removing the overflow plate to remove the assembly.
You might be able to see the reason for the blockage after you have successfully taken the plug out. Those greasy lumps of entangled hair and residue can be seen sticking to the sides and corners of the drain pipe. Try to pull it out, as much as you can. Use a wire from a clothes hangar or some other apparatus if you have difficulties reaching the clog or grabbing the build up so that you can pull it out. This step of removing the residual clumps will remove the local blockage at your drain pipe point.
However other methods can be used in case the clog is unreachable even with a hanger. Use a drain plunger to loosen the blockage that is deeper down the pipework. Begin by covering the overflow drainpipe with a wet towel so as to create a stronger suction from the plunger. Now put the plunger over the drainpipe and move it up and down continuously at an even pace. If you are successful, any water, if trapped, will be immediately drained when the plunger is released.
However, if this method also fails to have any affect you might have to use some sort of chemical cleaner. This method should only be used as a last resort because the chemicals used are dangerous and can be harmful to your bathroom fixtures.
